The Reference Department is a major service area and the first point of contact for information. In keeping with the library's mission statement, the Reference Department is committed to providing a wide range of services to the community. The Reference librarians are always available during the library hours for assistance.
Our collections, both traditional and electronic, contain a wide range of up-to-date reference materials including: college guides, Federal School Codes, newspapers, journals, Bayonne City Directories, and digitized obituaries of Bayonne residents from 1960-2002 (more years will be added in the course of time). The Library's archive offers an array of Bayonne-related materials consisting of old maps, pictures, postcards, military history, oral history of Bayonne veterans, and much more.

All of the following databases can be used at the library, or from any computer with an internet connection. When using these databases outside of the library, you will be prompted to enter your library card number. Enter all the numbers on the back of your library card, with no spaces.
