Art & Music Department

 

The Art & Music Department is located on the second floor. It houses our Music CDs, Videos, Audio Books, sheet music, and most books cataloged in the 700s.

 

Borrowing Rules:

 

Music CDs:
Music CDs may be checked out for two weeks. You must have an Adult or Young Adult card to borrow CDs.

DVDs:
Our DVD collection contains many adult and children’s movies. You must be over 18 to borrow a DVD and DVDs can only be borrowed on an Adult card.

To check out a DVD, please look through the titles and bring the case to the Art & Music desk. Our newer DVDs are located in the front of the room on a bookshelf. DVDs may be checked out for two business days.

Tween and Teen Collections

 

This room is also home to our Young Adult collection of fiction and non-fiction and a very large collection of comics, manga, and graphic novels.

Databases:

  • Teen Health and Wellness - This database offers expert-reviewed content about important research, health, technology, science, the environment, and society. There is also information about recent developments in AI technology, including chatbots, image generators, large language models, and more. It also provides information about social media anxiety, including information overload, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), self-esteem, and other mental health impacts. It also includes "The Calm Room", a virtual place to chill out! It includes calming “visual relaxation” videos (“rolling waves”, “forest walk”, etc.), “Sounds and music” (“cat purring”, “falling rain”, etc.), guided mindfulness meditations, live animal webcams, and hotline resources. Plus...it has virtual bubble wrap!
  • Soluna Health - Did you know that teens can access mental health support that meets them in the moment? From navigating daily stress to finding space for a mental reset, Soluna is a no-cost, confidential mental health app where young people ages 13-18 can care for their wellbeing. Funded by the State of New Jersey, Soluna offers: One-on-one support with coaches and counselors, a safe, moderated community for peer connection, self-care activities to explore at their own pace, and help finding local resources. It's real support, designed just for teens, whenever they need it most. Download the app in the App Store or Google Play.
