The Bayonne Public Library welcomes donations of books.
We ask that donations only be made at our Circulation Desk in the Lobby during normal operating hours (Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 9 pm; Friday & Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm).
Please do not leave donations outside our building when we are closed or in our book return box on the 31st side of the library.
We do NOT take the following:
- Textbooks
- Magazines
- Newspapers
- Books with water damage
- Books with mold
- Books that are in poor physical condition (i.e. broken spines, pages falling out, etc.)
Please do NOT donate more than 15 books at one time. While we appreciate large donations, it does take our staff time and work to evaluate the items we receive, which makes very large donations in trash bags or storage bins problematic! For sanitary reasons, we do not accept donations in trash bags.
Once books are donated, they become the full property of the Bayonne Public Library. Donated items may be added to our collection, used for programs, stored for later use, or sold at our book sale.
If you are looking for a place to donate items that we do not accept, we recommend using GreenDrop, a company that does home pick-ups for unwanted household items, including books. The service is free and non-profit partners get some of the proceeds. For more information, please click here.
Please contact our Circulation Desk with further questions.
