This Bayonne map includes the sketch of a Gothic
Cottage, which appeared in Samuel Sloan’s The Model Architect, a
popular book of house plans of the 1850s. While no one on the
peninsula seems to have used this design, it appearance on the map
suggests that the developers planned Bayonne as a suburb for the
upper-middle class. |
